Born in Paris August 24, 1904 of Beauceron ancestry. Finished his secondary studies at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand. Encouraged by his parents in his taste for painting, he enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in the atelier of Cormon. He remains there only four months, and after his military service works in the free academies of Montparnasse. In order to live he is obliged to do publicity, decorative and journalistic work. In 1930 he is commissioned to do the decorative panels of the "Mairie" of the IV e arrondissement. From this date he takes part in numerous exhibitions in other countries. In 1949 he is awarded the Hallmark Prize.
